The Tektronix MSO22-EDU 2-BW-70 Mixed Signal Oscilloscope features 2 channels, 70 MHz bandwidth, 2.5 GS/s sample rate, 16 channel MSO, 50 MHz AFG, 4-bit digital pattern generator, advanced triggers, and protocol decode, all in a 1.5 in. thick, compact form factor. Most notably, this unit is pre-packaged for educators and students. Designed to empower the classroom and beyond, it bundles the functionality of the 2-ULTIMATE software option, which includes both the 2-SOURCE and 2-SERIAL software packages into one. The 2-SOURCE option will add arbitrary function generator (AFG), digital pattern generator (DPG), and frequency response analysis (Bode plot) functionality to the main unit, while the 2-SERIAL option provides I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, CAN FD, CAN XL, SENT, LIN, and serial triggering and analysis functionality.

The MSO22 2-BW-70 offers Tektronix's award-winning user interface and supports the touch interactions that users have come to expect in touch-enabled consumer devices.
- Drag waveforms left/right or up/down to adjust horizontal and vertical position or to pan zoomed views
- Pinch and expand to change scale or zoom in/out in either horizontal or vertical directions
- Swipe in from unit's right side to reveal its results bar, or from its top down to access menus in upper left corner of its display
The simplified front panel retains critical buttons and knobs with color-coded LED ring lights allowing quick access and ready adjustments of the most frequently-used instrument settings.
The membrane switch technology makes the MSO22 2-BW-70 rugged and suitable for use in harsh environments, as well as easy and convenient to clean.

The user interface on the MSO22 2-BW-70 mixed signal oscilloscope is designed from the ground up for touch operation. All of the key information is presented as a series of badges with visual cues to display associations. Users can have immediate access to instrument configurations or waveform management tasks with a single tap.
The MSO22 2-BW-70 offers a novel, stacked display mode - traditionally, all waveforms are overlayed on a single graticule, which often leads to unwanted tradeoffs. When the vertical scale and position of each waveform needs to be adjusted so that they do not overlap, it can result in the usage of only a small percentage of the ADC range, which can lead to inaccurate measurements. At the same time, adjusting the waveform vertical scale and position can lead to overlap, making it difficult to distinguish details on an each, individual waveform. In stacked display mode, each waveform gets its own slice (additional graticule), representing the full ADC range, enabling maximum visibility and accuracy. Groups of channels can also be overlayed offering users a visual comparison of signals.
The MSO22 2-BW-70 offers a comprehensive set of standard analysis tools including:
- Waveform and screen-based cursors with user-selectable readout locations
- 37 automated measurements with measurement statistics and gating, ability to add unlimited measurements, navigate from one occurrence to another, and immediate viewing of minimum or maximum results
- Basic and advanced waveform math, including arbitrary equation editing
- Basic FFT analysis with options to view magnitude or phase, multiple options to customize window type, gating, and units; this works simultaneously across all analog channels
The large display in the MSO22 2-BW-70 provides plenty of viewing area not only for signals, but also for plots, measurement results tables, bus decode tables, and more. Users can easily resize and relocate the various views to suit their needs.
Triggering
Discovering a device fault is only the first step. Next, the user must capture the event of interest to identify its root cause. The MSO22 2-BW-70 provides a complete set of advanced triggers, including runt, logic, pulse width, triggers, timeout, rise/fall time, setup and hold, serial packet, and parallel data that can be capture complex, even infrequent events.
Act on event
The unit's act on event capability is built into the instrument, enabling users to set it up to respond by performing certain actions when a specified condition or events occur - such as trigger event, measurement limit failure, search event, or mask test events. This enables users to easily capture and analyze rarely occurring events.
Mask testing
Mask testing offers a good way to test the quality of a signal. A mask defines a portion of the oscilloscope's display that a signal must not enter. A mask can be defined either based on a golden signal with user defined tolerances, or by drawing mask segments on the screen. The MSO22 2-BW-70 provides a comprehensive set of mask tools that allow users to:
- Define test durations in number of waveforms
- Set violation thresholds that must be met before considering test failure
- Count violations/failures and report statistical information
- Set actions upon violations, test failure, and test completion
Bode plot
Users can analyze the frequency response of a system using the built-in Bode plot feature. The input voltage is swept across the user-selected range using the internal AFG (or any supported external AFG). The gain and phase of the output relative to the input voltage is plotted at each point.
Connectivity
The MSO22 2-BW-70 mixed signal oscilloscope contains several ports that users can access to connect the instrument to a network, directly to a PC, or to other test equipment.
- Two USB 2.0 ports enable easy transfer of screenshots, instrument settings, and waveform data to USB mass storage devices; USB mouse and keyboard can also be attached to USB host ports for instrument control and data entry
- USB device port allows users to control oscilloscope remotely from their PC
- Standard 10/100BASE-T ethernet port enables easy connection to networks, allowing users to remotely control instrument, as well as view acquired data

Feature control
The MSO22 2-BW-70 offers novel ways to enable educators to devote more time to teaching circuit concepts instead of lab setup and management. Educators can disable autoset, cursors, and automated measurements on the instrument itself.
