The Megger Torkel 910 Large Case (CS-19191) model supplies users with a TORKEL 910 Battery Load Unit, GD-00955 Large Transport Case, Mains Cable, and GA-00550 Cable Set. The cable set includes two 3m cables. The large transport case is for storing the TORKEL Battery Load Unit and accessories, such as cables and the main cable.

The TORKEL 910 Battery Load Unit can be used to perform load or discharge testing, which is the only way to determine the actual capacity of battery systems. The TORKEL 910 provides users with an instrument for the essential part of vigorous battery maintenance programs. Tests with the TORKEL 910 can be conducted at constant current, constant power, and constant resistance, or in accordance with a pre-selected load profile. Additionally, users can connect a BVM Battery Voltage Monitor (sold separately) to the TORKEL 910 unit to create a complete, standalone discharge test system.

The 910 model enables a maximum current of 100A and maximum voltage of 300V. This model does not have BVM functionality, charging measurement, or full report functionality. For users requiring these features, the 930 and 950 models are available for separate purchase.

The high discharge capacity of the TORKEL 910 gives users the opportunity to shorten the test time. Discharging can take place at up to 220A, and if higher current is needed, two or more TORKEL units or TXL Extra Load Units (sold separately) can be linked together. Tests can be conducted at constant current, constant power, constant resistance or in accordance with a pre-selected load profile. Testing can also be carried out without disconnecting the battery from the equipment it serves. Via a DC clamp-on probe, the TORKEL 910 measures the total battery current while regulating it at a constant level. Battery systems can be plus or minus grounded or free floating. The test results can be presented and edited on a PC using the included TORKEL Viewer PC software.

Application Testing

When the TORKEL 910 is connected to a battery, the current and the voltage alarm levels are set. After starting the discharge, the TORKEL 910 keeps the current constant at the preset level. When the voltage drops to a level slightly above the final voltage, TORKEL issues an alarm. If the voltage drops so low that there is a risk for deep discharging the battery, the TORKEL 910 shuts down the test. If the power supply is interrupted, the test will continue only when power is restored. All values are stored in the TORKEL 910 and can easily be transferred via an USB stick or ethernet cable to a PC for evaluation and printing out results.
