Advanced Discovery

As soon as it's connected to the network, the Optiview analyzer starts its discovery process. This process included real time results of devices, networks and problems.

Device Discovery

Devices are discovered by monitoring traffic and by actively querying hosts. Once discovered, the analyzer will present the most thorough information possible in terms of:

• NetBIOS Name
• SNMP Name
• IPX Name
• Addresses

Network Discovery

The OptiView analyzer screen will display your network as network type. Networks and all associated devices are discovered by traffic monitoring and actively querying the hosts.

Problem Discovery

The OptiView analyzer Problem Discovery Screen displays all network hosts that may be experiencing problems. Problems are reported according to severity - error, warning or informational. Resolved problems are also displayed.

SNMP Device Analysis

The Overview Screen displays critical information about a selected device. The device detail can include:

Cable Test

When connected to a copper media network, the OptiView analyzer will automatically perform a cable test and provide you with the cable length to the attached device even into a live switch or hub port.

Packet Capture, Filter and Decode

Even at gigabit speeds, the OptiView analyzer is capable of full line-rate packet capture and decode.

Packet Capture

For more selective packet captures, use the context sensitive filter and the packet capture engine is automatically populated with the source and/or source and destination addresses of your selection.

Packet Decode

As you have come to expect from a traditional protocol analyzer, the OptiView analyzers' Packet Capture Screen allows you to set the capture buffer size, slice size, buffer configuration and various other parameters.

Reporting & Monitoring

OptiView Reporter Software transforms baseline network performance data collected from OptiView into professionally formatted documents. Create reports on IP inventory or NetBIOS devices. Document Ethernet collisions, utilization, and errors. And publish them in a variety of formats - including HTML. You can also remotely configure and initiate tests on OptiView over the network.

Web Enabled Remote Analysis

Use the remote web browser user interface to monitor distant sites directly from your desktop and zero in on even elusive, intermittent problems. You can run up to seven multiple sessions on a single analyzer.

Portable or Fixed

Smaller than a laptop and battery-powered for up to three hours, the OptiView analyzer is designed to go wherever your network takes you. It's the ideal tool for traveling diagnostics; no more hassling with big, unwieldy boxes and multiple tools.

OptiView is an alternative to fixed network solutions that while ideal for some situations are often too expensive to implement anywhere except on the most critical links like backbones. But you still need the vision an RMON probe or analyzer can provide in other places throughout your network.
